Bury manager Alan Knill believes the chances of landing on-loan striker Jordan Robertson on a permanent deal are slim.
The 21-year-old has impressed since joining on loan from Sheffield United last month, scoring once in three appearances.
Knill has not considered signing him permanently yet and doubts it would be a realistic option for the League Two club.
"He is a really good player, with a great pedigree having played in the Championship and the SPL, so we are delighted to have him here," Knill told skysports.com.
"We haven't looked at turning it into a permanent deal and to be honest I reckon Sheffield United think quite a lot of him, but with the quality of strikers they have there they felt he needed to go out on loan and play some games.
"It was ideal for both clubs that he came here and he has done exceptionally well so far."
The transfer deadline on Tuesday afternoon passed by with little activity at Gigg Lane and Knill was happy to wait for the loan system to kick in.
He added: "The window doesn't really count for us because we can't just go out and spend money on bringing players in, so we will be mainly focusing on signing players on loan from now.
"The main worry for us during the transfer window is that clubs come in and try to take our players, rather than us looking to bring new signings in."
