Striker happy with appointment of fellow Welshman

Ched Evans is confident recently-appointed Sheffield United manager Gary Speed can help him to become a better player. Speed took charge at Bramall Lane last month following Kevin Blackwell's departure and has secured three Championship wins since taking the job. Evans, who scored the only goal against Portsmouth on Saturday, is delighted that his fellow Welshman was appointed Blackwell's replacement. "If he says something you listen because you know what he's on about," said Evans.

Respect

"I have watched him play for Wales and look up to him because he has been there and done everything - we've all got respect for him. He's a top manager and he knows what he's talking about. "He can make me a better player. He's been one of the best players in the game, he knows what to do. "If you look at his record he has done most of it. "Training is different and it's good, his views are different to the former manager Kevin Blackwell. The mood in the team is good, we're passing and playing rather than just hoofing the ball."
