Boothroyd appears prepared to let midfielder move on

Aidy Boothroyd has hinted he will not prevent Michael Doyle from leaving Coventry City amid reports he is wanted by Sheffield United. Doyle is out of contract at the Ricoh Arena at the end of the season and he had previously been tipped to leave Coventry last summer. The Irish midfielder spent all last season on loan at Leeds United, but has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Sky Blues this term. However, former Coventry boss Micky Adams is understood to want Doyle at Bramall Lane and Boothroyd appears happy to let the 29-year-old move on. Asked about the Blades' interest, Boothroyd said in the Coventry Evening Telegraph: "If there is something in it then we'll have to discuss it. "I've got a lot of time for Michael, who has been terrific for us, but I've got Aron Gunnarsson, Lee Carsley and Sammy Clingan and young players like Conor Thomas coming through. "I can't say anything but good things about Michael Doyle but I'm sure he could get a lot more money elsewhere so it might just be right for him if that's the case."
