Bramall Lane owner claims fans 'don't understand' factors involved

Sheffield United owner Kevin McCabe has hit back at protests surrounding the appointment of Danny Wilson as the club's new manager. The Blades chief has claimed fans "don't understand" the factors involved in key decision making at Bramall Lane. Former Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday boss Wilson penned a three-year deal with the South Yorkshire club on Friday amid protests from sections of the club's fans. "Danny is undoubtedly the best around to re-organise and re-shape our first-team squad by utilising the resources we have got, which includes our youngsters," McCabe told United's official website. "He also has good experience of League One, which is now the league we must get out of and he also has experience of the Championship, which we will have to get out of in due course." Addressing the elements of supporter unrest, McCabe added: "All supporters have their own ideas on who they would like as manager and plenty have different criteria for that. "Some pick the most handsome, others pick ones they have seen on television, but supporters don't understand the diligence needed to make the right choice for the club. "That is my job, I know what we have here and what needs to be changed and re-shapes, and therefore I can pick the right person to affect those changes and, hopefully, bring success."
