Sheffield United's Ched Evans dedicated his FA Cup double against Torquay to his mentor and former Wales boss Gary Speed.

After tributes at football grounds throughout the country for Speed, found dead at his home the previous Sunday, Evans was delighted to be able to pay his own pre-planned respects to the former Blades manager by revealing the words 'Rest In Peace Speedo' on his t-shirt after firing his second-half double. Wales international Evans told the club's official website: "Football was insignificant at first. Everyone had come to watch the game, but first of all everyone wanted to pay tribute to Speedo and it was tough to get focused on the game. "I was emotional from walking out on to the pitch at 2.45pm and even more so as time went on. I was just looking at the big screen and looking at the images of him and I still can't believe he isn't here anymore. "I thought so much of him and I knew what he thought of me, so I was delighted to send my message to him after scoring."
