Sheffield United striker Richard Cresswell is hoping to prove his fitness in time to start in Saturday's automatic promotion decider at Exeter.
Cresswell, 34, missed the recent defeat at MK Dons due to a shoulder injury and was restricted to the substitutes' bench in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Stevenage. The Blades, also without leading goalscorer Ched Evans in their last two matches, relinquished their hold on the second automatic promotion spot to Sheffield Wednesday when dropping two points against Boro and must beat Exeter on the final day, while hoping their city rivals fail to take three points at home against Wycombe. "I'll be speaking with the physios and seeing what we can do," Cresswell told the club's official website. "I'm ready to be involved and contribute in any way I can. I'm not one to give up and no one else here is either." Cresswell, who has suffered nose, wrist and shoulder injuries in recent weeks, added: "I'm ready to do whatever it takes. I needed some jabs on Friday and then another just before the game, but I'll do whatever I can for the team. "We're disappointed [to drop out of the automatic promotion places], of course we are, but we've got to lift ourselves because you never know what can happen. Strange things can occur on the final day."
