Sheffield United's new signing Darryl Westlake believes he can become a Championship player with the club.

The 21-year-old right-back signed a two-year deal with the option of a third, after rejecting a new contract at Walsall. Westlake told the club's official website: "My ambitions are to play in the Premier League one day so I would be delighted if I could follow the example Matt [Lowton] set this season." The Birmingham-born player said the club's ambitions and his own aspirations of progression were the key reasons behind the move. He said: "I have come here to try and help get Sheffield United in the Championship because that is where I want to be playing."
