Various reports had suggested that the Welsh international was on his way across London to The Valley, although neither side ever confirmed any move.
However, as further speculation suggested that the 'deal' was on the brink of collapse, Curbishley has now set the record straight.
"Wimbledon wanted to loan Kevin Lisbie," said Curbishley. "I spoke to Terry Burton and suggested we might be able to work something out if they would let us have Hartson on a loan.
"Terry said he couldn't do that and that was the end of the matter. Now I'm supposed to be on the verge of buying him. It's not true."
Dons manager Terry Burton was similarly dismissive of the reports, telling the official Wimbledon website: "Most of what was written was speculation.
"At the end of the day it was in everyone's interest if John remained at Wimbledon for the time being. He will be in the squad for Saturday's game at Norwich and will train as normal with the rest of the squad this week."
