The England Under-21 international will now start a three-match ban this weekend after his appeal over his dismissal for an alleged elbow on Chelsea midfielder Enrique de Lucas was rejected by the FA.
Konchesky attended an appeal hearing in London on Thursday in the hope of having referee Graham Barber's decision to dismiss him during the 3-2 defeat overturned.
The appeal was unsuccessful and Konchesky must therefore serve a three-match suspension for a violent conduct dismissal, starting with this Saturday's local derby at West Ham.
A statement on the FA's official website read: "Further to a hearing this afternoon, the FA can confirm that the appeal of Paul Konchesky against his dismissal has failed.
"Therefore, Konchesky will begin a three-match suspension this weekend."
