Ancona have been busy recruiting players during the transfer window, but speculation in the Italian media is suggesting Eusebio Di Francesco has emerged as a possible target for Charlton Athletic.
President Ermanno Pieroni has been strengthening his squad in a desperate bid for salvation as the side currently lie at the foot of Serie A.
Coach Nedo Sonetti has been boosted by the arrival of Mario Jardel, Ciccio Grabbi, Luciano Zavagno and Dino Baggio but there could be a move in the opposite direction to England.
One of the players under threat after the influx of new blood is the experienced Di Francesco.
Italian sources claim the 34-year-old has emerged as a target for Charlton, where Paolo Di Canio is currently plying his trade.
The midfielder only arrived at Ancona last July, after captaining Piacenza and also representing Empoli, Lucchese and Roma during his lengthy career.
Indeed, the veteran has made 481 appearances in Serie A, scoring 46 goals, and has played ten times this term.
Whether Di Canio has advised Alan Curbishley to take a look at his fellow countryman is unclear, but it is fair to say there is still some doubt over Scott Parker's future, and, whilst the Ancona man would only be a short-term replacement, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that The Addicks have taken a look at midfielders who may be available on the current market as a precaution to losing their star man.
