Curbishley is keen to bring in at least five new faces as he looks to build on his side's seventh place finish in the table.
The Addicks chief wants to strengthen every department of his team and he has money available to do that this summer.
"The search has already started. We are looking to strengthen in every department and we have got a few things sorted out," Curbishley told the club's official website.
"I'm not looking to bring one person in and use up all the money; I've got to be sensible about it and make sure the squad can compete.
"This season we've coped with five or six major injuries at a time and we need to be in that position again next year."
"I'm looking at five players, because we need those bodies and need the competition,"
Cardiff striker Robert Earnshaw is one of the players linked with a move to Charlton, but the Welsh international's agent Mel Eves insists there has been no offers for the tricky hit-man.
"If a club contacts Cardiff and makes an offer for him then we will speak to that club if Cardiff give us permission," said Eves
"That's the situation with Earnshaw right now.
"Loads of clubs have been linked with him but the ball will only start rolling once one club makes a formal bid for him."
