Kassam denies Davies offer

Oxford chairman Firoz Kassam denies receiving a bid from Charlton for Craig Davies.

Oxford chairman Firoz Kassam has denied receiving a bid from Charlton for teenage star Craig Davies.

The striker has attracted attention from a range of clubs after impressing during his breakthrough year with The U's.

Davies netted seven League Two goals in just 13 starts, and has been the subject of interest from the likes of Sunderland and Stoke.

Kassam admitted that The Addicks had been monitoring Davies' position, although denied that any formal contact had been made regarding a transfer.

"There has been no contact from Charlton," said Kassam.

"I do not know anything about it.

"There was an enquiry a while ago from one of their coaches about the player, but nothing more since."

The Welsh Under-21 star only signed a new deal at the Kassam Stadium in February, and Charlton boss Alan Curbishley is reportedly ready to test Oxford's resolve with a six figure offer.
