Stephan Andersen has pledged to continue keeping Dean Kiely out of the team.
Charlton Athletic's Stephan Andersen has pledged to continue keeping Dean Kiely out of the starting line-up.
The Dane was a hero in the recent Carling Cup win over Chelsea and has played all the Premiership matches for Alan Curbishley this season.
Kiely is now fit again after recovering from a broken finger but the former Republic of Ireland international has been unable to dislodge the promising young keeper.
"Of course, from my point of view, hopefully I can keep Dean out," he told Sky Sports News.
"But I have to take one day at a time.
"I know it will be very difficult because Dean is a very, very good goalkeeper so it's going to be hard."
The highlight of his Addicks career was clearly at Stamford Bridge as he saved Robert Huth's spot-kick in a dramatic penalty shoot-out success.
"I would say it would have to be the cup against Chelsea this season," he opined. "Definitely."
The 23-year-old naturally looks up to Danish legend Peter Schmeichel.
"I went to Aston Villa to have a week's training with him," he explained. "He always said I could do it in The Premiership."
