Luke Young believes that Alan Curbishley has what it takes to manage England.Charlton defender Luke Young believes that Alan Curbishley would make a brilliant England manager.
The Addicks boss has emerged as one of the leading candidates to be Sven Goran Eriksson's successor when the Swede steps down after this summer's World Cup, and Young's glowing endorsement will serve as a timely reminder to the FA as they draw up a shortlist of possible names.
The 26-year-old, who is pressing for inclusion in England's World Cup squad, feels that his club manager has all the credentials to be a successful international boss.
"I don't see why not," said the 26-year-old, when asked if he thought Curbishley could become the next incumbent of the England job.
"He has been in the English game for so long, and is always out on the training pitch. He likes to do a lot of coaching himself, which is what you need.
"He has got all the attributes, if he wants it this time or maybe in the future.
"And I am sure that, somewhere along the line, he would be given a chance."
