Kevin Lisbie has revealed that he came close to quitting the game.
Kevin Lisbie has revealed that he came close to quitting the game after overcoming surgery to remove a tumour from his nose.
The striker is set to kick-start his career at Derby, having been farmed out on loan by Charlton, but he admits he came close to turning his back on the game.
Lisbie underwent surgery to remove a non-malignant tumour from his nose and the 27-year-old admits it was a traumatic experience.
"After what happened, I realised how important my family is and what my priorities are," said the striker.
"I came close to quitting and thought long and hard about it."
Having decided to continue his career, Lisbie is champing at the bit to return to the pitch.
"After coming out of an op like that, you worry you'll never get back to how you were," he added. "But I've worked hard and can't wait to play for Derby."
