Charlton boss Iain Dowie is hoping to sign three or four players within the week.
Charlton Athletic boss Iain Dowie has told Sky Sports News he is hoping to sign three or four players within the week.
The Addicks have added Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Simon Walton over the summer but their recruitment drive is now hitting top gear with the start of the Premiership season just two weeks away.
With fees agreed for Newcastle's Amdy Faye and Liverpool's Djimi Traore, and trialist Christian Bolanos impressing in a 1-1 friendly draw with New Zealand on Saturday, Dowie certainly has a number of irons in the fire.
The former Crystal Palace chief has now revealed he is expecting to welcome at least three new players within seven days.
"We are very, very close to one or two bodies and there is one or two other ones that we should be hopefully concluding over the weekend," Dowie told Sky Sports News.
"So I would think certainly come the middle of next week we should have three, maybe four bodies in."
As well as working hard to bring in new blood one of Dowie's more important pieces of business has been convincing captain Luke Young to remain at The Valley.
The England international handed in a transfer request back in June but the defender has now revealed that the arrival of Dowie convinced him his future lay with the London side.
"I've signed a new deal with Charlton Athletic, I'm delighted to be here and I can't wait for our first game and I can't wait to get the first points on the board for the new manager as well who was a big part in me staying," said Young.
"I had a lot of chats with him, he kept me on as club captain so I'm delighted to be here and can't wait to get going."
