Luke Young is tipped to be fit for Charlton Athletic's Premiership game with Chelsea on Saturday.
The Addicks captain has returned to The Valley from international duty due to a long-term ankle problem.
Young was left behind as England travelled to Macedonia for Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier in Skopje.
The full back's absence from the party sparked suggestions that the 27-year-old had suffered a fresh setback.
But Addicks boss Iain Dowie was quick to play down the significance of the injury and expects Young to be available for Saturday's trip across the capital to play the champions.
"It was decided that Luke should return as a precautionary measure," said Dowie.
"He has been in outstanding form since the start of the season and we still expect him to be in consideration for the game at the weekend."
The defender has started all three matches for Charlton this season, with The Addicks beating Bolton last time out after defeats to West Ham and Manchester United.
