Charlton have confirmed that Djimi Traore suffered a hairline fracture against Chelsea.
Charlton have confirmed that defender Djimi Traore suffered a hairline fracture to his left leg in the game against Chelsea on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, forced off just after half time at Stamford Bridge, has been given a protective boot to wear as he recovers.
Addicks medical chief Wayne Diesel expects the former Liverpool man to be sidelined for several matches, but cannot estimate precisely when he will return.
"It's only a small fracture, but unfortunately it's enough that Djimi has trouble putting weight on it," he told Charlton's official website.
"With fractures it's hard to estimate how long they will take to heal because there is little you can do to encourage the healing; you have to rely on the natural healing process."
Souleymane Diawara and Andy Reid both picked up hamstring injuries at the weekend, but Diesel believes the outlook is better for Reid.
"The soft tissue injuries are quite similar but from the scans it seems that there has been less trauma with Andy," Diesel explained.
"The good news is that both players were feeling a lot better on Tuesday, and hopefully they will be moving around more freely by the end of the week."
