Bryan Hughes has praised new manager Alan Pardew for igniting the hunger inside the Charlton Athletic squad.
Pardew has been at the helm for just a week, but has picked up four points from his two home games in charge.
Charlton remain in the relegation zone, but Hughes feels Pardew has already had a positive impact on the players.
Hughes, who scored a late winner against Aston Villa on Saturday, is confident Les Reed's replacement will continue to have a galvanising effect on the club.
"Just Alan being here for the last two games has given us a massive, massive boost," said Hughes.
"The desire and the hunger of everyone has been raised.
"We've had the passion and the fight about us all season, but we haven't shown it out on the pitch enough. Certainly since Alan's come in we have.
"I can't put my finger on why, but it just seems to have happened. He's come in, he's obviously steadied the ship and we've taken four points from the last two games, which is great.
"It puts a bit more pressure on the teams around us and hopefully pushes us on to get a few more points going into the New Year.
"Everyone who's associated with the club knows that the desire and the belief that we've got is excellent. We're driving to put it right for the whole club."
