Fortune back at The Valley

Jonathan Fortune has been recalled from his loan spell at Stoke City by Charlton.

Jonathan Fortune has been recalled from his loan spell at Stoke City by Charlton Athletic.

The defender joined the Championship club in late January and made four league appearances for The Potters.

His final outing came in Monday's 1-0 defeat to Barnsley, when he was unable to intercept Peter Rajczi's pass which enabled Istvan Ferenczi to score the only goal.

Fortune will head back to The Valley to boost a Charlton squad which is currently short of defensive options.

"It was important for Jon to get some games under his belt, but the terms of the agreement were that we could recall him after the first month if required," Addicks boss Alan Pardew told the club's official website.

"With Souley (Souleymane Diawara) suspended and Hermann (Hreidarsson) and Madjid (Bougherra) still struggling that's exactly what's happened and he will bolster the squad ahead of the weekend."

Prior to moving to The Britannia Stadium, Fortune had made seven Premiership appearances this season and could now start Saturday's crunch game at Watford.
