Charlton winger Jerome Thomas says 'relegation is not an option' this season.
Charlton winger Jerome Thomas says 'relegation is not an option' - and believes they simply need to maintain their current form to survive.
Charlton are currently four points away from safety, but have taken seven points out of a possible nine in their last three games to give themselves a real chance of escaping the drop.
Fellow strugglers Wigan visit The Valley on Saturday in what could be a crucial match come the end of the season, but Thomas feels the position of their opponents is irrelevant.
"It does not matter who we are playing or whether we are home or away: we are going into every game trying to win," he said. "That is our mentality.
"I have said from day one that relegation is not an option.
"As the season is winding down, every game is like a cup final, but if we keep performing like we have been, we will not have a problem."
On-loan goalkeeper Scott Carson has been delighted by the side's upturn in form of late, and feels there is a mood of optimism around the squad.
"The mood is spot on," he said. "Everyone has got belief that we can get ourselves out of this.
"There is no point believing that you can not get out of it. Everyone in our changing room believes that we can do it. I just hope we can get out of the bottom three as soon as possible."
