Bordeaux seal Diawara deal

Charlton defender Souleymane Diawara has sealed his switch to Bordeaux.

Defender agrees four-year deal

Charlton defender Souleymane Diawara has sealed his switch to Bordeaux. The Senegal international returns to France after just one season with The Addicks, having previously had spells with Le Havre and Sochaux. Diawara has agreed a four-year deal with Bordeaux and completes a dream move to the Stade Chaban Delmas. "I wrote a little letter (when I was younger) to try out at Bordeaux but it wasn't possible. And 14 years later I find myself here and I'm dying with hunger," said Diawara. Diawara has no regrets over his time with Charlton and is pleased to have had the chance to play in England. "I wanted to get a taste for another championship, learn new things, which I have," he added. Charlton boss Alan Pardew has revealed his disappointment at losing Diawara. Pardew is angry at the role of the player's agent in the stopper's departure from The Valley and Charlton could take action. "I didn't want to lose Souley," he said. "His agent played a massive part in his departure and I'm currently considering whether to report him to the Football League and the relevant authorities."
