Charlton striker James Walker's proposed move to Southend is off after he failed a medical.
It was thought the 20-year-old had sealed a £200,000 switch to Roots Hall after putting pen to paper earlier this week.
But the Shrimpers revealed on Friday night that they have now 'opted against' finalising the agreement after an 'unsuccessful' medical.
Walker is yet to make a senior appearance for Charlton but has gained valuable first-team experience out on loan at Hartlepool, Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient, Notts County and most recently Yeovil.
