Cardiff City boss Dave Jones believes there is more to come from Ross McCormack after the Scot hit a brace in Saturday's triumph over nine-man Charlton.
The Bluebirds moved up to fourth in the table with the 2-0 win at Ninian Park as McCormack, 22, took his goalscoring tally for the season to nine.
Jones was pleased with the performance of his charges and is hopeful they will maintain their recent form in the games to come.
He said: "We will keep working Ross hard. He took his first goal well and his second was deserved.
"He's in good form and in good confidence. We have not seen the best of him yet.
"We took our foot off the gas a little bit but to come away with a victory is a good win for us.
"It was damage limitation for them in the end and could have done better but we take that. It was important to come away with a win as the league is so tight. We had to get something from the game.
"Expectations are going to rise but we are going to have to deal with it."
Charlton had substitute Jose Semedo and captain Mark Hudson dismissed by referee Kevin Friend, and manager Pardew feels his side were on the receiving end of 'tough' decisions from the official.
He said: "It was two tough decisions by the referee and the game was over then.
"All we had left was character. When it was 11 v 11 we were the better side.
"But the breaks didn't go our way and fortune didn't favour us. The referee's decisions were tough on us.
"We tried to keep our head as we could have lost more players. We were frustrated by the events that went on.
"I thought we had a bit of cover with Semedo's sending-off and it was tough on him. He was distraught.
"I didn't think Hudson should have gone either. It was a harsh booking and then Jay Bothroyd did us no favours as he hardly touched him.
"The referee had no hesitation in sending him off. He booked people for innocuous challenges all day but you could say he was consistently bad. I will have a chat with the referee."
