Charlton Athletic midfielder Jose Semedo has been ruled out for up to two months with an ankle injury.
Semedo suffered the injury during the early stages of Charlton's 2-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
He has undergone an operation on the problem and Addicks boss Phil Parkinson is not expected to be able to call on the Portuguese until March.
"Unfortunately, Semedo injured his ankle following a heavy challenge on Saturday, and is due to have a small operation on his syndesmosis joint," physio Steve Allen told the club's official website.
"Hopefully, his recovery will be quicker if we have a small operation now rather than treat it conservatively, but he will be out for a couple of months."
The injury is the second to hit Charlton from the weekend after Jay McEveley's loan spell from Derby County was cut short by a shoulder injury.
