Watford midfielder Jobi McAnuff has confirmed he rejected a move to the club's Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.
The financial situation at Watford has led to reports that McAnuff has been put up for sale as the club look to trim costs.
He was offered a loan move to Charlton last week, but McAnuff turned down the chance to join the division's bottom club.
Though he accepts the financial situation could lead to his departure, he felt a move to the Valley would not have been the right decision.
"I'm not really in control of that side of it and, as long as I'm here, all I can do is play to the best of my ability and see what happens," said McAnuff in The Sun.
"I didn't see it as a move I wanted to consider at this moment in time. It was passed on to me, I had a decision to make and I'm more than happy to be here.
"Things didn't go quite so well last year but we've got a rebuilding job to do now and I want to be a part of it."
