Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws is looking forward to seeing a revitalised Akpo Sodje when he returns in January.
The former Port Vale striker has scored twice in three substitute appearances since joining Charlton Athletic on loan and Laws is delighted with the 29-year-old's return to form.
He now hopes Sodje will head back to Hillsborough in the New Year ready to make a major impression in the Owls' Championship campaign.
"Akpo has scored two in three and we are delighted with that because that is what we sent him out on loan for, to get some games under his belt and more importantly start finding the net again," Laws told skysports.com.
"He has had a frustrating time with injuries recently and he just needed that bit of confidence to return and he seems to have got that since joining them on loan.
"Hopefully he can come back here with a spring his step and raring to go."
The Owls were able to bolster their squad last week with the loan signings of Tom Soares and Warren Feeney from Stoke City and Cardiff City respectively and Laws is grateful to both clubs for loaning them out to his struggling side.
"It is probably the toughest time to lure players away from their respective clubs because everyone wants to keep their squad intact during the Christmas period due to the amount of games played during that time," he said.
"Thankfully, we chose players which were allowed to come out on loan and help us through the Christmas period.
"We needed freshening up a little and both of the boys I've brought in are hungry to help turn our form around."
Wednesday have gone six games without a win and find themselves just two points above the second tier relegation zone as a result.
