Mahon closing in on full fitness

Gary Borrowdale is set to head back to QPR following the end of his one-month loan spell at Charlton. The Addicks are keen to extend the short-term deal, having been impressed by the full-back during his six outings for the club. However, Rangers boss Neil Warnock wants to take a look at the 24-year-old before the campaign comes to a close. "I've yet to have a look at Gary and I want to see him before the end of the season," said Warnock, who only arrived at Loftus Road at the beginning of March. Meanwhile, Rangers are pessimistic regarding Gavin Mahon's chances of playing again this term.

Comeback

The midfielder has been sidelined for five months with a knee injury but has stepped up his rehabilitation of late and had hoped to be involved at some point during the run-in. Warnock admits there is still a chance Mahon will figure before the season is out, but insists he will not be rushing the 33-year-old back into action. "He hasn't written himself out yet, he's talking about being match fit for the end of April," he told the Kilburn Times. "But we'll have to think seriously about it. If he's coming back a week before the end of the season, it might be better for him to think about having a good summer instead."
