Leeds, Palace, Leicester and Coventry keen on Addicks ace

Four Championship clubs have expressed an interest in Lloyd Sam, according to his representative. The 25-year-old is currently available as a free agent after seeing his contract at Charlton Athletic expire. The Addicks claim to be keen on keeping the tricky winger at The Valley, but are yet to put fresh terms to him. That has alerted the attention of numerous other clubs, with the summer transfer window now in full swing. Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Coventry City and Leicester City are all keen on the former England U20 international, prepared to offer him a step up into the second tier. Such a switch would appeal to Sam, but his agent Eric Walters claims he is no nearer to knowing where his client's future will lie. "If Charlton offer him a contract he will certainly consider it, but he hasn't heard anything yet," Walters told the South London Press. "There's been plenty of interest in Lloyd. There are a few teams in the Championship who have looked at him. "Palace, Leeds, Leicester and Coventry have all said they might be keen on him and we're in talks with all four of them."

Abroad

Elsewhere, Charlton could also be about to see Deon Burton slip through their grasp. The experienced striker is another of those out of contract and, with a new deal failing to materialise, he is weighing up a number of tempting offers from elsewhere. "Deon's had a firm offer from a club in Europe and we've had interest from elsewhere," said Burton's agent Darryl Powell. "The offer from abroad is a decent one and it's probably more than anyone could pay in this country, but it might not be enough for him to say 'yes'. "We haven't spoken yet with Charlton about terms but I know Deon would like to have had something sorted by this stage."
