Charlton midfielder in talks with Whites

Skysports.com understands Leeds United are poised to sign Charlton Athletic winger Lloyd Sam on a free transfer. The 25-year-old has been linked with a number of Championship clubs as his Addicks contract is set to expire this summer. Crystal Palace, Coventry City and Leicester City are also thought to be keen on the former England Under 20 international, as he looks to make the step up from League One. Leeds earned their place in the second tier after finishing second in League One last term, while Charlton lost out in the play-offs to Swindon. Sam, who was born in Leeds, could make the switch to Elland Road after seven years at The Valley. Last season he made 43 league appearances for Charlton, scoring four goals, and his performances have alerted the Whites to his situation. Leeds have already added Kasper Schmeichel, Billy Paynter, Paul Connolly and Federico Bessone to the squad on free transfers this summer, while Neill Collins has moved for an undisclosed fee.
