Boss Chris Powell praised Charlton after the League One leaders returned to winning ways with a 2-0 home win over Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The Addicks were beaten 1-0 at Huddersfield seven days ago, their third defeat in five games, but there were no such fears once Scott Wagstaff had fired the hosts into a seventh-minute lead at The Valley before substitute Dany N'Guessan made the game safe in the 81st minute by heading home Lee Cook's sublime cross. Powell said: "I'm very pleased with the result and the clean sheet. After last week's defeat at Huddersfield, we had a week of reflection, but also on what we needed to do in the seven games coming up. "I felt it was a good game for us a London derby, so you don't need much motivation for this, plus we lost to Leyton Orient on New Year's Eve. "We got the start I wanted and I was very pleased we nudged ahead. That gave the team confidence and in the end we ran out worthy winners. "It was a fantastic second goal for us and a pleasing result. I was really happy Lee Cook and Dany N'Guessan combined for the second goal. It was a fantastic ball in, that is Premier League quality the cross and Dany was brave enough to get in there and finished it with style."
