Roland Duchatelet, who also owns Standard, recently completed a takeover of the Championship side and the 25-year-old would become the second player in less than a week to from the Belgian club, following midfielder Astrit Ajdarevic.
Thuram has featured six times so far this season, but goalkeeping coach Jos Beckx believes that a loan move will be beneficial for his progress, with Charlton a probable destination.
"He has to play, but our first goalkeeper, Japanese international Eiji Kawashima, is a key player," he said.
"Charlton or another team on loan will be a good solution for Yohann."
Meanwhile, Ajdarevic has spoken of his move to the Addicks, with the former Liverpool youth player saying that he will be glad to make a return to playing regular football.
"It feels nice to get started and play again," he told Fotbollskanalen.se.
"I had my first training session today and it felt good. The coach has confidence, but it has not gone that well for them thus far.
"They are aiming to advance in the standings and they are trying to strengthen the team now and I am a part of that.
"It is all up to me. I will do everything I can to play as well as possible and regain the level I know I can manage.
"The possibilities are big, otherwise I would have not moved here."
