Charlton have signed former France midfielder Alou Diarra on a contract until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, a free agent after he was released by West Ham in the summer, could make his Addicks debut at Derby on Tuesday night.

Valley boss Guy Luzon told the club website: "He will add some height, experience, and most of all, quality to the midfield.

"We lost Milos Veljkovic to injury and Johnnie Jackson is out for a month, so he will help us to bring results and more points.

"It's a coup for us that we can attract a player with so much international experience and I'm sure he will be fantastic for us."

Diarra has also played for Le Havre, Bastia, Lens, Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille and has 44 caps for France, appearing at the World Cups in 2006 and 2010.
