Villa manager Steve Bruce worked with Snodgrass during their spell together at Hull, with the 29-year-old playing a major role in the Tigers' promotion to the Premier League during the 2015/16 season.

Sky Sports News revealed last week that Snodgrass had been told he was surplus to requirements at West Ham.

Snodgrass only joined West Ham from Hull in January, but has since struggled to find his best form and has been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular.

He scored nine goals for Hull last season before joining the Hammers in a deal worth £10.2m.
