The French full-back is poised to finalise a £500,000 transfer from Metz and offered his support to Roeder in the wake of a recent outburst by fiery Italian star Paulo Di Canio.
The appointment of Roeder disappointed many fans and seemingly Di Canio who were looking for a big-name manager to take over the Upton Park hot-seat.
Former Nancy player Schemmel believes the new coach must be given a chance and could prove the doubters wrong, declaring: "I have had a relationship with him that I have not had with any other trainer.
"Middlesbrough, Manchester City and other big English clubs were after me and there were bids from Marseille, Bordeaux and Sedan in France.
"But my priority was always West Ham. Glenn can be a big success especially with the quality of players we have here. I have spoken to Frederic Kanoute and he says he will stay. Why? Because Glenn is the manager."
Schemmel, 26, spent the second half of the season on-loan with the Hammers and former Watford boss Roeder has moved quickly to make the Frenchman his first signing for the club.
He will sign a contract for either three or four years at Upton Park.
Meanwhile, Christian Bassila, who was on loan with the East Londoners last term, has been farmed out again by Rennes - this time to Strasbourg, who have an option to buy him.
