The 20-year-old midfielder has not yet made his debut for The Hammers and will be training with Brian Flynn's side from Monday.
Flynn says that he is thinking about signing Britton on loan but will take his time to make the decision, as The Swans have no first-team fixture next week.
"We've invited Leon down so that we can have a better look at him, and so that he can take a look at us," Flynn told the club website.
"If we were to sign him ahead of next Saturday, we'd be wasting a week of any loan period.
"There'll be no pressure on him, we can take our time, and hopefully both sides will like what we see, and he'll be willing to join our league fight. We definitely wouldn't sign him until the week after though."
Should Britton sign, he will join Manchester United youngster Marc Richards and Alan Tate from Blackburn at the Division Three strugglers.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Jay Thompson has returned home for personal reasons after leaving the Welsh side, although youth boss Wayne Powell said that he may well return after a break.
"Jay was unhappy and he wanted to be at home, so no-one was going to benefit from making him stay here," said Powell.
"We've come to the decision to allow him to return home, but we aren't just casting him aside.
"Hopefully, after a spell at home he will be refreshed and will want to come back - if that's the case he'll be welcomed here at the Vetch."
