Hammers eye Sochaux ace

SOCHAUX midfielder Adel Chedli is undergoing a trial with West Ham.

The Tunisian international is bidding to earn a move across The Channel, but was not involved in the impressive 4-0 friendly win over Bournemouth.

After recovering from an ankle injury he sustained in the New Year, the 26-year-old is keen to make a fresh start after failing to hold down a regular place at Sochaux last term.

Indeed, he made only five starts in Le Championnat, even though he has notched up 148 appearances since arriving from Saint Etienne.

Chedli has two years left on his contract, but West Ham are interested in setting up a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer, providing he impresses manager Glenn Roeder.

The Hammers boss is keen to make additions to his squad as he fears losing a couple of players to Premiership predators, following the East Londoners' relegation last term.
