McAnuff followed Adam Nowland and Nigel Reo-Coker in swapping The Dons for The Hammers, another massive blow for the struggling club.
Murdoch has continually been dismayed at the number of quality players leaving in order to keep the club afloat, and McAnuff was no exception.
To see another young player leave has hit the squad hard, like losing a member of their family according to Murdoch.
"They've grown up together, these players, and it's like losing a member of your family when one leaves," said the Dons boss.
"I don't think my thoughts on him leaving are publishable but it was something we knew was likely to happen.
"If this is what the club needs to do to come out of administration I'm powerless to stop it.
"How do I talk him out of going to West Ham?
"He'll be playing in front of 30,000 crowds and of course it's good for his career. I wish him well."
