The Eagles have already won the race to sign Sandor Torghelle and they are expected to offer goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly a permanent deal after a spell on trial.
Gera is currently with Ferencvaros but looks set to move on in the next few weeks.
Russian outfit Spartak Moscow were rumoured to be interested, but Gera has already indicated that he does not want to play in Russia.
Now Palace are thought to be competing with a number of German sides for Gera's signature.
"I know that many clubs want to sign me," Gera told Hungarian daily Nemzeti Sport.
"I have the appropriate man who manages my business and I think my future might be decided during the next week, but I can only sign for a new club in August."
Nemzeti are now claiming that Palace are leading the chase for Gera, who could join two of his fellow countrymen at Selhurst Park.
Another player being linked with a move to Palace is West Ham's Marlon Harewood.
The former Nottingham Forest is believed to be available for transfer and Palace could be tempted to make an offer.
One player definitely at Palace next year is Finnish star Aki Riihilahti, who has joined Tony Popovic in penning a new deal with the club.
