McAnuff could be available for Cardiff's Friday evening match at home to promoted Plymouth Argyle.
The news of McAnuff's arrival comes as the club have pulled out of the race to sign wantaway West Bromwich Albion utility man Sean Gregan.
The Bluebirds revealed on their official website that they had not entered into negotiations with the former Preston North End man, who has had a transfer request accepted by The Baggies.
Gregan has been seeking a move away from The Hawthorns after dropping down the pecking order, with fellow Championship side Leeds United also interested in the player's services.
