Yossi Benayoun is confident his physique will not be a barrier to him being a success.Yossi Benayoun is confident his physique will not be a barrier to him being a success in The Premiership.
The Israel international joined West Ham United in a £2.5 million deal from Racing Santander last month after plumping for Upton Park ahead of Bolton Wanderers.
Benayoun chose The Hammers on the advice of compatriot Eyal Berkovic and the two are similar types of players.
There have been suggestions that the slightly-built Benayoun will struggle to cope with the rigours of playing in English football.
But the gifted playmaker does not feel his lack of bulk will be a problem as he has already proven himself in La Liga.
"I know that the English league is very physical but I believe in my ability to handle the pace of the game in England," Benayoun told The Guardian.
"Of course I need to work hard but there are a lot of good players with the same body as me in England and Spain."
The 25-year-old also backed his technical ability to be a hit in England as he looks to vindicate Alan Pardew's decision to bring him to Upton Park.
He added: "It's a fantastic challenge to come to the Premier League and a dream move for me.
"I came here to prove to the manager that my place is in this football club. I score goals, create goals and that is what I am going to do."
