Luke Chadwick has admitted his surprise at being allowed to leave West Ham.
Stoke's new signing Luke Chadwick has admitted his surprise at being allowed to leave West Ham on loan but vowed to do all he can to prove manager Alan Pardew wrong.
Chadwick, who played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's opening day Championship draw with Sheffield Wednesday, was told that he would not be part of The Hammers side.
He said: "I was a little bit surprised to find myself here after all I did with West Ham last season.
"Everybody wants to be playing in the Premiership but I'd rather be playing every week than kicking my heels on the bench."
Elaborating on Pardew's decision to allow him to leave Upton Park, he revealed that the former Reading boss is looking to use a different formation for West Ham's Premiership return.
"He told me he wanted to play a different formation in the Premiership and said I wouldn't be part of the team so I've got six months to do the best I can.
"If I do well there's a 24-hour call back and you never know what can happen in football," Chadwick added.
