Alan Pardew has labelled West Ham's 4-0 win over Villa a 'perfect night'.West Ham manager Alan Pardew has labelled his side's 4-0 win on Monday evening a 'perfect night'.
Under-fire striker Marlon Harewood silenced his critics with a hat-trick while Yossi Benayoun strengthened his growing reputation with a fine fourth goal at the death.
Pardew believes his backline marshalled Aston Villa's strikers and that Harewood deserved his goals due to his all-round display.
"It was a perfect night, nothing went wrong, the back four were terrific, obviously the goals were the icing on the cake," Pardew told Sky Sports 1.
"Marlon's always scored goals in his career, he deserved his goals because his all-round performance was very good.
"We looked quicker and jumped higher, we've got to keep this enthusiasm going and see what happens."
Harewood was delighted to bag three in the game after opening the scoring after 25 minutes with a neatly-taken finish.
"As a striker you just have to keep going, carrying on to get a hat-trick after the first was good for me," Harewood stated.
Experienced strike partner Teddy Sheringham feels The Hammers fully deserves the win and reserved special praise for the fans.
"It's a win we needed, we deserved that, we've played well and tonight we were fantastic - as were the fans," said Sheringham.
