The Premiership new boys have paired Harewood and Sheringham in attack this season, following an impressive showing in The Championship last term.
Despite Sheringham's advancing years, the former England international is still one of the sharpest operators in the game.
The 39-year-old is a key performer for The Hammers and Harewood revealed it is a joy to be playing alongside Sheringham.
"I can't describe it because it's awesome," Harewood told Sky Sports News. "You just look over your shoulder and you've got Sheringham there and it's like 'wow, I used to watch him' and it's quality.
"But, at the end of the day, I've got a job to do and so has he so we have got to go out there and do it.
"He's raised my game a lot. He's enthusiastic about everything."
Harewood received a boost of his own this week when he grabbed his first goals in The Premiership, courtesy of a hat-trick against Aston Villa.
The forward's display delighted Hammers boss Alan Pardew, who feels it will be a major lift to Harewood's morale.
Pardew commented: "I think what it's done for him is renewed his own faith in himself because he's got strong belief that he's good enough for this division but you need to back it up with goals.
"His four performances have been excellent but goals obviously make a huge difference and he's in good shape at the moment.
"It might have stimulated him more to prove he's the man and I don't need to bring Benni [McCarthy] to the club or a striker of his ilk. So, so far, so good."
