The powerful striker has not always been a favourite of the Upton Park faithful but has proved his critics wrong this term with a series of excellent displays.
A slow start to the campaign, Harewood missed several chances, was countered by a hat-trick against Aston Villa and then another goal and match winning display against Fulham.
Harewood has set himself a target of 15 goals for the season, confident West Ham's promising start will not prove to be a false dawn.
''I always set a target of 15 goals," Harewood told The Telegraph.
"I think I'm doing pretty well if I reach that. It's great when they support me.
''It makes me go out there to try to do even more. If they love me, they love me. If they hate me, they hate me.
"Expectations are high here. They are a big club. They've had loads of talented players over the years and they want it to continue. You can understand that.
"I would expect them to get at people if they're not doing well. That's how football is. But lately they've been awesome, just fantastic."
