The West Ham defender was expected to be out of action for up to six weeks after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Northern Ireland on Saturday.
Collins is still a doubt to feature on Wednesday and John Toshack's medical staff will make a final call on the defender before clearing him to play.
"The first diagnosis was six weeks out but he is now back with the squad and trained, although there was no physical contact," explained an FA of Wales spokesman.
"He seems to be okay, but we will have to wait for any reaction and a final medical verdict on the day of the game."
The news is also a massive plus for West Ham as they look to build on their impressive start to The Premiership following promotion.
