Ipswich Town are considering a swap deal involving two West Ham players.Ipswich Town are considering a swap deal which would see Carl Fletcher and Gavin Williams move to Portman Road, and Dean Bowditch head to West Ham United.
The Championship club are keen to strengthen their midfield region as they look to put their promotion campaign back on track.
Town boss Royle recently asked West Ham about the availability of Fletcher, who has just concluded a loan spell at Watford.
Fletcher and Williams are both on the periphery at Upton Park and Hammers boss Alan Pardew could sanction their exit to land long-term target Bowditch.
Pardew is a huge admirer of the teenage striker and is looking to take Bowditch to the club when the transfer window reopens in January.
Royle confirmed his interest in exploring a deal which would benefit Ipswich but refused to be drawn on specific players.
"If we have to consider selling anyone in the window, it will be for one reason only and that would be for team strengthening," Royle told the East Anglian Daily Times.
"Talking generally, if we were to be able to get two players from one sale, then that might have to be considered.
"Bringing in a new player would give us a big boost. We have seen before the value of midfielders when we brought three in a couple of years ago and it gave us an immediate lift.
"All I can say at the moment is that nothing is imminent. As you know, I have asked about Carl Fletcher before.
"It is not a massive list that we have, and we want people who will come in and make a difference, although I still insist when we have a fully-fit team then we are not far away."
