Paul Konchesky says he has been thinking about the England squad for some time.Paul Konchesky has admitted to Sky Sports News that reclaiming a spot in the England team was involved in his thought process when he headed to West Ham this summer.
The left back turned his back on Charlton in the summer when promoted West Ham came calling and the defender has not looked back.
He has produced some solid displays for West Ham, with his efforts earning him a recall for the friendly with Argentina at the weekend.
Konchesky, who won his one and only England cap against Australia in 2003, admits the World Cup has been on his mind since the summer.
"Part of my decision to go to West Ham was because I was going to play week in, week out and I had England in the back of my head," Konchesky told Sky Sports News.
"It was a big thing for me to move to West Ham and it has paid off, with the team doing so well and the manager having faith in me.
"It is a great game to be involved in, if selected, and just going away with the squad means a lot to me and I just want to prove to Sven what I can do."
