West Ham boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he is interested in Maxi Lopez.West Ham boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he is interested in signing Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez.
Pardew is keen to sign the Argentine on loan for the rest of the season when the transfer window reopens in January.
Barcelona are willing to let Lopez leave on loan as he is well down the pecking order at Camp Nou.
Real Betis have been linked with the former River Plate starlet, but West Ham are hoping to lure him to England.
Pardew is keen to bolster his attack and has identified Lopez as his top target in the January transfer window.
"Maxi Lopez is not playing in the first team at Barcelona and is a player I have to say I think would enhance our team," Pardew told Sky Sports News.
"So we are actively trying to secure his services."
Meanwhile, Pardew has revealed he hopes to keep Tomas Repka at the club until the end of the season.
Reports suggested that Repka was considering a return to his native Czech Republic in January ahead of his departure next summer, but Pardew is determined to keep the tough-tackling defender at Upton Park.
"Tomas has been in great form this season and I thought he was excellent on Sunday (against Manchester United) so I am hopeful that he will stay," said Pardew.
"I haven't spoken to him about it but I know it is difficult with his family all living in Prague."
