Hammers seal Scaloni swoop

West Ham have completed the loan signing of Argentine defender Lionel Scaloni.

West Ham have completed the signing of Deportivo La Coruna defender Lionel Scaloni.

As expected, the Argentine has moved to Upton Park on loan for the remainder of the season.

Hammers boss Alan Pardew moved for the 27-year-old after failing in his pursuit of Barcelona's Gabri.

Pardew was keen to bring in a player who can operate at right back having seen Tomas Repka return to his native Czech Republic.

Scaloni is club captain at Depor, but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by under coach Joaquin Caparros this term.

The defender, who can also operate in midfield, joins on loan, although it is understood there is no option to make the deal permanent.
